Class Description:

In this workshop, we will practice mindfulness-based stress reduction practices (MBSR) utilizing the rich and healing environment of the farm at Yellow Barn Farm. Fall is the ideal time to return to self by harvesting and reaping the rewards of the expansiveness of spring and summer experiences.

Through this one evening class, we will begin to understand how in each moment we have the opportunity to let go and expand and practice anew. Learning ways to open our window of tolerance to stress and work with anything that makes us uncomfortable.

Practicing attuning to ourselves from the heart through deep listening and using our environment to attend to our bodies, minds, and spirit so we can meet ourselves in kindness and compassion.

Learning simple techniques to turn on our relaxation response allows a response of recognition of our needs rather than a reaction on autopilot.

Mindfulness involves intentionally bringing awareness to present-moment experience with the attitude of openness and curiosity.

Mindfulness is paying attention

•   To this moment

•   In this place

•   Without judgment

Mindfulness practice is ideal for cultivating greater awareness of the unity of mind and body, as well as of the ways the unconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviors can undermine emotional, physical, and spiritual health.

Mindfulness promotes the idea that remaining available to the reality of the moment and releasing judgment or the notion of control can actually support the processes of change.

Six senses meditation focus on each of our physiological senses; sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. The ability to detect other stimuli is often thought of as our sixth sense or our intuition. The meditation groups draw upon the life experience and wisdom of all participants to generate possibilities of experiencing our lives more fully.
