Sacred Tobacco "Hapé" Ceremony & Yawanawá Prayers
Sacred Tobacco "Hapé" Ceremony & Yawanawá Prayers — Live at Yellow Barn Farm
A sacred evening of prayer, song, and heart connection — led by Costa Rebelo Mastahãe
September 14th, 2026
Check-in: 5:00 PM Ceremony: 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Location: Yellow Barn
We gather in a circle of reverence with the sacred medicine of tobacco for an evening of prayer, song, and heart connection. Costa, a visiting medicine man from Brazil carrying the Yawanawá altar, will gently guide us through a traditional hapé ceremony, sharing prayers and songs from his lineage to open and hold the space.
You are warmly invited to come just as you are — bringing your intentions, your openness, your questions, and your respect for the medicines and traditions being shared.
Schedule:
Check-in: 5:00 – 5:15 PM
Ceremony: 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Please check-in and be seated by 5:30 PM
The Ceremony:
We will begin the evening gathered around the sacred fire (weather permitting), allowing ourselves to arrive fully into presence.
Costa will share about hapé — also known as rapé — its traditional use, and the spirit of the medicine before offering it to those who feel called and for whom it is appropriate. Throughout the evening, Yawanawá prayers and songs will be woven into the space, supporting personal reflection, intention, and collective prayer.
Receiving hapé is always optional. Those who choose not to receive the medicine are deeply welcome and invited to remain in the circle, held in the beauty of the shared space.
About Costa Rebelo Mastahãe:
Costa is a medicine man who carries the altar of the Yawanawá people of Brazil and the Sacred Fire tradition of Itzachilatlan in Mexico. For over 20 years, he has served sacred plant medicines, weaving prayer, song, and ceremony with joy, humility, and devotion.
Together with his wife, Nykole Passos, he helps anchor Aldeia Yawaho near Natal, Brazil — a living ceremonial space dedicated to ancestral wisdom, prayers, and spiritual practice.
About Hapé:
Hapé is a traditional Amazonian ceremonial snuff prepared with prayer and intention. It is made from finely ground tobacco blended with sacred plant ash and other botanicals, each blend carrying its own lineage and purpose.
It is traditionally administered through the nostrils using a pipe, and is often experienced as grounding and centering — helping to quiet the mind, open awareness, and reconnect to the body and the Earth. Many people also experience emotional release or energetic clearing as part of their process, which may include purging.
Each experience is unique, and the medicine meets each person in their own way.
Important Information:
Safety: Hapé is not recommended if you are pregnant, or sensitive/allergic to tobacco or nicotine. It is also not recommended for those with high blood pressure, heart conditions, or cardiovascular concerns.
