Yoga Nidra is a meditative journey that aids in one’s process of self inquiry and deep relaxation - a lovely practice to align with the New Moon's natural calling to go inward. During Yoga Nidra, you will be guided through the five koshas, or energetic layers of the body, while in a supported savasana or seated position.
Yoga Nidra is not an active yoga practice, but one of stillness. It is accessible for all levels and abilities. This practice will be accompanied by intuitive improvisation by harpist Margot Krimmel, guiding us beyond and bringing us home on this meditative journey with their live music.
Feel welcome to bring water, cushions, and any physical supports you might need to settle into a comfortable, meditative state. Blankets will be available, and it is recommended that you bring something to cover your eyes. The space will be heated if needed, but please dress warmly.
About Sydney: Sydney’s own journey into yoga began in 2010 as a college student seeking relief from the pressures of school and campus life. Like many, she was first drawn to yoga for its physical benefits, but noticed that what kept her returning to her mat was the experience of increased clarity after practice. Over the past decade, Sydney has pursued training and education in San Francisco and in cities around the world. Significant teachers (to name a few) have included Bonnie Phillips (her very first teacher), Jonathan Issacs, Karen Macklin, Cora Wen, Coby Kozlowski, Jason Crandall, and Janet Stone.
Sydney currently lives in Boulder, CO, where she is studying for her Master’s in Mindfulness Based Transpersonal Counseling at Naropa University. In offering her practice of yoga, movement and meditation, Sydney aspires to support others in their own healing journeys of self-inquiry and meaning making.
About Margot: Harp player Margot Krimmel brings creative musicianship to her work as a performer, teacher, composer, and freelancer in the Boulder and Denver area. As a solo performer, Krimmel has won diverse awards ranging from first place in jazz (Pop and Jazzfest; Tucson, AZ), first place in traditional music (Scottish Highland Festival; Estes Park), and third place in composition for Celtic harp (Rencontres Harpe Celtique, Dinan, France). Two of her compositions placed in the International New Century Harp Music competition 2007.
A native of Denver, Krimmel sang and played guitar in swing bands before taking up the harp. She began her harp career entertaining guests six nights a week at the Sonnenalp Resort in Vail, Colorado before moving to Boulder and expanding into teaching and composing. She has appeared from elegant venues like the Brown Palace in Denver, to down-to-earth folk music stages like Denver's Swallow Hill Music Hall, the Radio Room in Grand Junction CO and The Black Rose Acoustic Society in Colorado Springs. She has traveled and played internationally in Germany, France, Ireland and England.
