About Us

STORIES INSPIRE, CHALLENGE AND MOVE THE SPIRIT. THE LAND CONNECTS US ALL.

Through stories of people and their experiences with different landscapes, climates, and cultures, it is the Land itself which often emerges as the most profound and enduring character.

The Yellow Barn Film Festival explores our collective relationship with the Land through a rich and diverse programming of fiction, documentary, and art films. Here, we witness the Land's transformative power, its resilience in the face of adversity, and its capacity to inspire awe, reverence and action.

Our Mission & Values

OUR MISSION IS TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN ART, NATURE, AND COMMUNITY THROUGH STORYTELLING.

We believe that film has the power to not only entertain but also to educate, inspire, and mobilize individuals and communities to take meaningful action. We believe in cinema’s potential to foster a deeper appreciation for the Land that sustains us, the ecosystems that nourish us, and the people who cultivate the earth.

In harmony with Yellow Barn Farm, the Yellow Barn Film Festival dedicates itself to a reciprocal and healing relationship with the Land. We strive to nurture a community of collaboration, play and respect.

Our History

FINDING INSPIRATION IN THE NATURAL WORLD SINCE 2023.

Established in 2023, the Yellow Barn Film Festival highlights and celebrates the relationship between humankind and the natural world.

This annual event provides a powerful platform for filmmakers to share their stories and perspectives, both in the picturesque landscapes of Colorado and beyond.

Our Venue

BIGGER THAN A BARN. MORE THAN A FARM.

Allen’s Farm was established in 1865 as a dairy farm, before transitioning into an international equestrian center in the 1970s. Today, the legacy of Allen’s Farm lives on through Yellow Barn Farm, a working regenerative farm cradled within the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains eight miles north of Boulder.

Once a stable, the iconic yellow barn hosts the Yellow Barn Film Festival on 100 acres of Land, and features produce gardens, open grazing land, rivers, farm animals, and more.
